I feel sure that all of us like a response to answers which we give to questions.

Should we therefore expect Questioners to even say
"thank you" to us for our replies in AB.?

Most people are very polite, but you do get the odd one or two,who dont give a Monkeys.I always think to myself, perhaps they've fallen down a manhole never to be seen again,or been arrested by the Polite Police. And I swear..Thats the last time I Google for that miserable git.But im bu**ered If I can ever remember their name's..(:o)
Have you noticed its often new posters who fail to thank people for their answers, or post a reply, and we often never hear from them again.

Perhaps they are all floating out their in cyberspace.

This is a much muted point vivandorron.

Some will politely put TIA if they know that they will be unable to respond to any answers (until perhaps later - or on another day). Like in the outside world, there are those that are not polite anyway, and do not either think it necessary or are expected to say those little words "thank you" and "please". Shame, cos it doesn't take long to say it, and it makes you feel better, and makes the recipent feel a warm glow that they have helped (not always lol!!), and the questioner has acknowledged receipt of the post.

Some will say it is only cyberworld (not real), but I don't agree to that sentiment, after all we are all real people - not an electronic machine or automatic system like Google and Wikipedia. Testament to that - what about all the chat and camaraderie that goes on between the ABers? If peeps come on here to pour their heart out, or share a problem, that is real enough if they are seeking a human response to their plight. Stars are awarded usually for good replies (even if the poster does not agree with your opinion on a matter). At least that means that the originator of the Q has seen the reply and taken the time to show their appreciation.

I like to thank peeps for a reply, and love to receive one in equal amounts. Have always been polite to everyone and anyone outside, and do not think it should stop when I switch my laptop on.
pie+mash, you have put into words that probably many of us were thinking (especially me) well said :-)
Sometimes I forget what questions I have asked! But thank you if you answered them
It would be nice...it would also be nice if some people took the time to actually post a question, not just a two- three word sentence

"T-mobile Advert - Music" for eg.

Thankfully theyre a minority though.

But yes I do feel "happy" when I see the OP has replied with a Thank You, or given some stars...
I always like to try and thank people for their help it's just good manners at the end of the day and if I have helped someone I am always chuffed when they say thank you in reply.

So the aswer to your question is yes.
Thank you allotment *** (try to imagine these as red stars lol)
lankeela - of course you must be right .... , new posters fail to thank people for their answers .... these sweeping words of generalisation about people, remind me of another one of your generalisation postings -->

the one about Q&P people being pathetic brainless idiotsin this thread: -

And, ain't you perfect !!!!!!!!!! - in thanking People for their Answers - as, can be seen in these threads -

I never 'expect' an acknowledgement but I certainly appreciate one.

Actually, there do seem to be plenty of polite people around. I've just checked back through my last 40 answers and 20 of them were acknowledged with a star rating or a message. I suppose that 50% isn't too bad.

Strangely though, I've noticed that an answer which is dealt with in 30 seconds nearly always seems to be acknowledged. The ones which involve me in giving up a night's sleep to research the question or spending hours running up my phone bill to track down accurate information seem to be those which the questioners haven't got the courtesy to respond to.

pets-cat got her tongue, hehe (sorry , must be my braindead dense of humour1)
oops! Sense of humour!
We may have our disagreements on here and there is often fierce debate and differing opinions but life would be boring if we all agreed...However good manners cost nothing both in the real and the cyber world and I think pie+mash has summed it up very well.
Anyway nice to see you Ron and yoohoo Viv......hope you are both still slowly cooking away !!
Viv and Ron -
Breeding and good manners will always tell - even on the information superhighway:)

We don't answer the questions for stars or for thank yous - at least I don't, but if you spend your time helping someone - in my humble opinion - I think the least they should do is respond to let you know if they got what they needed or if we should continue to try to help them!!!

Thank you for addressing this problem for us.

I didn't think for one moment that my question would add to 'Global Warming'. !!

Nevertheless, I wish to express my appreciation to those of you who answered, direct and to the point.

I accept that, when respondents, we are not necessarily seeking applause; but we can enjoy recognition when it is given.

Accordingly, whilst it is not normal for me to award stars, on this occasion I am giving myself..one for the question, and feel sure that none of you have any doubt that three must go to pie+mash; whose answer cannot be faulted.

Diolchiadau i gyd.........Ron.
Apart from anything else, I was brought up with the words "A please & thank you go a very long way"!

I always try to acknowledge or thank people for their answers, either individually, or one big one at the end of a thread!
