I went for an interview a week or so before I went off on sick leave . (I had cancer of the womb and had to have a hysterectomy - no further treatment requried). The job was with my employing dept but within a different section. A few weeks into my sick leave the personnel officer phoned me and asked if I was still interested in the job and I said ''yes' but would be off for a while!! she said she would speak to the managers and decide which section I should return to when I was ready. I phoned her the monday before I was due to start and she said that my manager would speak to me when I returned so far he hasn't done so and that was 2 wks ago. one rumour is that they aren't filling the job I applied for. I keep asking for a meeting but feel I am being put off. Should I see my union rep??!? or just wait n see?! the thing is my post has been downgraded and I will lose over 1,000 in 3 years the other post was the same grade and will remain the same in 3 years. I cant afford to lose the money!!

Are they allowed to downgrade you, and pay less. I would have thought that counted as unfair dismissal.
It can't hurt to chat with your union rep
