If someone claiming to be a child posts on AB that they are being physically abused, can AB then contact local law authorities to investigate?

And if someone posts that they are planning to commit a crime, is this also something that AB would have some sort of obligation to report?

Just wondering...

I dont know what they would do! I doubt they would be under a duty of care to do that but who knows?!
See 3rd or 4th para in the 'Privacy Policy' section.
You mean the Data Protection Act???
......."If we are requested by the police or any regulatory or government authority investigating suspected illegal activities, or in response to a UK court order, to access and disclose individually identifiable information concerning your activities whilst using our website, we shall do so (but we will, where reasonably practicable, notify you in advance of any court order). I know, I've seen all her posts, and I obviously knee-jerk reacted to them too. But any mention from a child about being abused should be taken seriously, no matter what.
If everyone's that fused about it why dont you report it to the ed?
The only thing that has bothered me is the treatment of this girl for asking a genuine question about training her dogs. The fact it was a pitt bull cross seemed to rile people to the point of ridiculousness and the j'accuse party started.
People seem to forget that there are peops from other countries ie: USofA and when the wolf hybrid question came up another j'accuse from the human equivalent of the pitt bulls laid into the questionee......
What a bl00dy shame!!! followed by back peddling by people who should've known better......
but?... that's AB isn't it? :-(
What you have to remember though is this a British site, I know that doesn't stop people from other countries joining, but a question about Pit Bulls is always going to cause a reaction....and are we to ask the nationality and age of every poster before answering. My concern for the young lady involved was that she [excuse the pun] had bitten off more than she could chew by buying two of these dogs AND THEN asking how to train them. Also from her further posts she claimed to be 16 and seemed to me quite capable of looking after her self.

I don't believe it was her that had bought them in the first place, her parents would have bought them... I think she was genuinely asking a question, and then with the added embellishments.....
13 yr old kids , even in the states lol.... unless she is trailer trash et al, don't just go and buy dogs.....
and this might be a UK site... drestie? Clannad? but all can access it.... including kids from the USA lol....

B. with big smiles:-) xxx
personally I think it is a total hoax as the questions were so designed to inflame reaction and a regular abuser of the site is getting yet another kick out of causing bother, let's look at the evidence:
Claims to be a minor; claims someone else used the ID; claims to be abused; is precociously sexual; gives short but apparently dismayed-at-our-reaction replies; is green; will probably never post much again;

been done to death already.
now doesnt anyone think that "Aaron'sGirl" could be a certain little russian? think about it, attitude problem, inflamatory posts about sensitive sunbects?
