Albanian crisis in the 1940's

My Grandad told me that he joined the navy just after WW2, and he told me of a situation just after WW2 about a British Naval vessel being sunk by a mine off the coast of Albania. As retaliation (for not appologising) their gold bullion was confiscated by Britain (and the USA) or their gold reserves or something like that. I cannot find anything about this situation and now i am not sure if it happened!

My Grandad told me this story about 10-15 years ago, but unfortunatly he passed away 5 years ago.

The Albanian gold held by the Tripartite Gold Commission after the "Corfu Channel Incident" of 22nd October 1946, was transferred to the Government of Albania on 29th October 1996; at the same time, the Government of Albania settled the British Government's claim for compensation.
