I have a small lane at the back of my house, not a public right of way as it's owned by all the adjacent houses but it's in everyones deeds that it has to be left open for access so it gets used as a shortcut for dogwalkers.
All our children play on there and I'm sick of them coming in with dog muck all over their shoes, their bike wheels, rollerblades etc - it ends up everywhere.
We've tried putting signs up explaining that the children play on there and to please clean up after their dogs but it hasn't done a bit of good.
Nobody objects to people walking dogs on there if only they'd take the mess home. I know you can get spray to deter cats ...does anyone know if there is anything out there to put down maybe that will stop the dogs from pooing on the area?

thanks for the link redhead but I can't seem to find anything on there that helps me??
Why not put a bin bag at the end of the laneand a sign asking people to put there dog poo in it?
Near where my mum lives is a similar back lane, and the dog walkers have a sign near the bin bag asking people to put the poo in to keep the lane nice, they then take it in turns to replace the bag and put it out for the bin men

We did try that already cheekystar as our bin is right there on the lane but no-one took any notice sadly. Thanks for your input.
ring the council - it is an offence not to get it up, I am sure it is a 50 fine in some areas - so try and catch them in the act with your digital camera and threaten to report them unless they remove it. Or you could put up a cctv with a note saying they are being filmed!
