I didn't think it would cause a stir like this.
All i want is to use the ab easily, we know we can google anything we want, so where does that leave the ab.
Many many disabled people, not just wheelchair users could benefit from a section.
It bewilders me when people have a reaction to something that would truly help people.
Maybe there to busy wanting to know how to get rid of pop ups.
I hope we can persuade miss ED to seriously think about this.

mrbumblebee - thank you so much for SHOUTING AT ME just because i DON'T AGREE WITH YOU.
this is a question and answer site, not a place to dish out bits of information you feel is important.
this is too specific a subject. check the rest of the topics and you will see they generally cover a wide range of subjects.
the internet is full of site for this sort of stuff - why try to turn this site into one too?
whilst I don't doubt the information could be useful to disabled people, they are likely only a small percentage on this site (as far as i know) and any questions can be asked in any of the topics.
i don't mind one bit if the topic is introduced - why would i?
i said what i said because lots of people come on here wanting specific topics added or trying to change the nature and point of the site - and they are never added ... and i was merely pointing out that the ed will likely see it that way too.
SO SORRY IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE IT.

What a busy day......
Hi mrbumlebee - it's really quite okay & as I said earlier, the post to myself was only meant as tongue in cheek!
Again, I sincerely hope your request is considered by the Ed, after all, he/she is the one who makes all the decisions, much to the annoyance of some maybe!

sorry to fill up your inbox with this rubbish mr bb but its a bit much to say that just because i dont agree that i am just wanting attention and a reaction. the simple point is, i don't agree with a section for disabled/whellchar users to share tips when there are plenty of other sections that cover most eventualities
2 part post
i cant really think of a way of putting it to make it sound right, so i'll just put it the way it is in my head, and perhapsit will make sense; if it dosent, im gonna look like a right turd.
Anyway, the reason i dont want a disabled section is that being disabled myself, the internet is one place where we can all be the same. Noone knows unless i tell them that i cant walk, finding it difficult to hold down my job and that im blooming miserable about it, on here i could be the queen and none of you would know unless i chose to tell you (and you chose to believe me!) Disabled people get singled out a lot in real life, for the things they cant do so i dont want them to be singled out with their own section on here. We need more integration, disability needs to be seen as normal, so having a seperate section, to me defeats the point, when you could post in the categories that are already here and have lots of people see your posts, and maybe think about what it's like, rather than a "disabled" section, where you might not go if you were able bodied. I absolutely hate the "poor me" attitutde that SOME disabled people take, (i know there is a bit of it in my post here and i dnt mean anyone in this post) because at the end of the day we are ALL just people, and i dont think anyone goes through their life without some trauma, and in fact i would think myself lucky if i got away with having just the problems i have at the moment, so i dont think there is a compelling reason for a new section on it!

And sorry mr bb i hate it when people make assumptions like you did when you said "like i said YOU wouldn't understand clevertrev" How do you know that? he might just disagree with you. The beauty of the internet is that it makes us all equal. Clevertrev could be typing using a mouth straw because he is paralysed from the neck down for all you know! I think it is a great idea to share tip and hints, but cant understand why you would want to make yourself different from everyone else and have it in your own section.
Ha, ha, ha, thanks mrbumblebee - that did make me laugh & no it didn't put me of me roast spuds! Again, you've really no need to thank me - again, I'm only too pleased to help.
Anyway, seeing as the Ed probably hasn't had time to reply to this thread yet, please read the following email I rec'd this morning:
"Hi Smudge,
Thanks for highlighting this suggesiton, at the minute I'm divided on the topic and not entirely sure it is a category the AnswerBank needs.
Thanks again
AB Editor"
So there you go Dave & all - whilst the Christmas topic & some other unnecessary ones remain, the 'Disability' one probably won't be granted - ne'er mind we tried didn't we! -x-
P.S. Not long tuned in, so only just read your post to me allotment, thank you. Yes, we did enjoy our roast chicken, spuds & 3 veg - t'was delish! -x-

Hi bednobs - like mrbumblebee, you didn't have to share with us that you're disabled, if you didn't really want to, but now that you have, it makes no difference to me personally, whether you are or not. You are still a human being with feelings & an integral part of AB - the same as you are in life in general.
I'm sure the reason for a Disabled category wasn't for disabled people to look for sympathy, but for the reasons I mentioned on the previos page. General help & advice, as mrbumlebee has already said.
I know quite a few disabled people, some of which can't communicate verbally, but are happy, positive & make things clear to those around them that do understand.
I wish you well. -x-
