My Wife received her Provisional Licence 12 years ago but never went any further with it. She now wishes to start driving and has realised she has misplaced her Provisional Licence. She wishes to apply to DVLA for a replacement but does not know what category she falls into. Reason. Category. 1) Lost Licence Lost/Replacement. 2) Married me Change of Name. 3) Moved in with me(obviously) Change of Address. We have searched DVLA site but cannot find the correct category, the correct fee amount or the correct DVLA Postcode which to send it to. Any help appreciated. Andy.
Hi Ethel.
Thanks for the link.
We still couldn't understand what to do but we found a phone number and they have advised to apply for a replacement and just put old and new details on the form.
Something to do with it being an old paper licence, if she had it just now, it would still be valid for years.
Only when she applied for and received the new photocard licence would it lapse after ten years.
Thanks very much for your help.
Andy.
actually ethel your provisional licence doesnt run out until you are 70 years of age, if you have a photo licence you have to renew the photo every 10 years but otherwise it doesnt need renewing
