Hi Ed - I've absolutely no problem with anyone's usernames on AB, but I'm just wondering as to why the word b@stard gets asterisked out on here, yet there's an AB'er with the username Fat B@stard - but spelt correctly?

Why is this?

P.S. Sorry Fat B@stard - just curious!

Waves 'ello smudge, how ya doin'? I've not seen the person you're talking about, but maybe they're new and somehow slipped through the net so to speak? Or maybe Ed has more than enough to keep herself (?) busy with replies like the one above that they think "oh sod it...." when it comes to names???

I'll ignore the immature answers, not worth wasting my fingers - well two of them anyway!!!!

As I say I'm not bothered by the username, I've heard worse - just wonderng why some swear words are allowed & some not.......
Question Author
No, i've actually seen the username before BOO, but didn't think much of it at the time.....
If you think i'm imature, its because i had a drink of wine earlier. But what the hell is wrong with that?
Corrrrr I was right! Well, I was as far as crossroads bein' squiffy goes anyway ;-)
PS: have you played the VC ad to the left at the bottom?(The one with the bottle of champaign)

Whats wrong with having a glass of Wolf Blass?

BTW - as anyone who knows me well enough, knows I don't go in for name dropping - but the name appeared on the new 'Recent Posts' list for all to see, which made me ask the question.

Again, no offense Fat B@stard!

Hi The Prophet & thank you.

That's exactly why I asked the question.

There have been a few choice names on here since I joined in '02, but I didn't think the ones with swear words in were allowed anymore.

Have a nice evening.
I've noticed obscenities can appear in the question title without being censored so perhaps the same applies to screen names.
because the coding in the software has only been set to apply to the text boxes for questions and answers, not the forms you fill in on application

Well maybe Ed & Co could have a little look in that area & anyone registering with a sweary name could be warned that it isn't acceptable!

Having said that, they might be too busy dealing with other things - YouTube & all that jazz! ;o}

Mmmm, does seem a bit silly legend, not being able to type cetain words - p'raps that's why we see f@rt spelt as f@rt as often as we do on here!

Mind you, it's not a word I use - we say 'fluffed' in our house! ;o}
You can say penis, but try saying something is a **** and bull story
