When writing in bold how do put a word in bold then rest of sentence in normal?

Hit 'control B' before then word and then 'control B' after the word

I mean on AB when writing in bold in put < b > before word but dont know how to take this off mid sentence
< / b > (but without the spaces of course). i for italic, u for underscore: same procedure
