Private Messaging - Sensible Suggestion this Time. Honest!

Hi AB Ed,

Just wondering about private messaging. Not like an MSN thingy... not quite that advanced.

But just a forum where you could swap email addresses with other members without the world and his wife seeing. I've had to create email addresses in the past when I've been sent music files or indeed quizs as my actual email address has my full name in it.

It might also be useful for those who wish to hurl insults at each other all day and night.

Just a thought.

I think PMs could have defused a few nasty situations on here, on the other hand they have caused endless trouble on other sites to the extent of closure. I'd like to see them here, but it maintains its attraction without them. It's quaintly lovable.

I'll pass. I really can't stand those websites. I don't understand them and have a pathological need for privacy.

I can't remember my China Doll email address at this moment in time but if I remember later I'll pop it on.

problem with that is people using the private messages to give out personal info like addresses and phone numbers only to have some pc nerd read them using some program he created using a cabbage linked to a clothes peg, i have heard of this happening before on another site (not the cabbage part) personal messages are risky

The problem is this is meant to be a question and answer forum not a chat site or a place to make new friends, dont get me wrong I met some of my best friends on here (and then through various other sites). If ED could maybe give us an amnesty for one day (or even one thread) to let those of us with other more 'chatty' forums post links to there...

Or maybe a certain amount of service...some people have been here years but probably not posted that much. QUality and quantity and all that. I have 5300 posts of utter drivel under my belt......whereas x has been here for years and not posted tht many cos he favours better threads than i!
