I asked a question on google about 3 years ago and this was one of the sites listed. Have been off and on here in various guises ever since. The users can be divided into either answerbank celebrities (eg Andy Hughes), answerbank 'incognitos' (various, usually the ones that post all the time for several weeks and then suddenly vanish), or answerbank virgins (the general public, hoaxers and Caps Lockers).
Similar story to the above really......I used to be in a quiz league and was trying to come up with newer and different questions for our turn to host the league....rather than type "questions" into google I tried "answer" and this was one of the sites that popped up....must also be about three years ago now as well since I joined.
do you know what - i cant remember ! i think i was hunting down the name of a song from an advert one day a few years ago and Volia ! i found AB . . been back and forth from time to time - love this place funny threads keep it alive also with interesting questions answered interestingly ! if u know what i mean . . . . .
googling for the name of the song which was the peugeot advert (the asian dance track - "Bangra nights" by the Bangra Knights - god did that get a lot of stick?) and found the answer in AB. have been here ever since (year and a half now i think)
Thanks ouch! I am very flattered. As I think most regulars know by now, I am a part-time music and culture writer and the parent company approached me to work as a Channel Producer for the Music Section so I was working on the site from the day it hit the Web. When the company decided that the AB would stand alone without the input of its specialist writers, I carried on as a Contributor because I really enjoy the exchange of information and opinion, and barring illness and holidays, I have visited the site every day since it opened.
In August 2002 there was a T-Mobile advert on TV and I wanted to know the location, so I did a search on 'trivia question and answer sites' and it came up with the Answerbank, so I joined and submitted my question. As it happens, I didn't get my original question answered by Answerbank (I later found out that the answer was Toronto) but I liked the site and have stayed ever since!
Someone mentioned it on a radio phone-in show.
A friend pointed me in AB's direction after I said I was bored! I came here, answered a few questions, and got hooked. That was almost 2 years ago and I've been here ever since.
Entered a search into google to look for an answer to a footie question posed by an annoying get at work. Google directed me here. Annoying get at work has now ggone but I still have a mooch about on AB on every work day.
Heard about it on Steve wright in th afternon [Radio 2] - it was Miles Mendoza's website of the day see - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/wright/wotd.shtm

Like all addictive things I was lured into a darkened alley, and in exchange for financial reward I was given the address where I would find all the answers to all the questions in the universe..... eerm no actually I found it when I entered a question on Google and it directed me here about 18 months ago, since then things have gone from bad to worse and I have been lured onto other sites with the promise of gay wit, scintillating repartee and intellectual banter.. oh how naive I was, how foolish and unsuspecting.... time to go, pick a window!!

hey trudi what's this site you're talking about? wouldn't be the http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Answerbook would it?
Hello buttons. My sister told me about the site and I have visited most days for the last 2 years. My sister still does too, as does my Mum. They don't contribute as often as me but they talk a lot more sense when they do!
I wanted to find the music for an advert and this is where I ended up - and to this day a year on I still havent found it
Hi buttons - I arrived about the same time as flirty via a computer problem that was sorted by Moonacre. Liked the look of everyone so I stayed. Have learnt a lot from other members...although not always what I needed to know. ;-)
I too typed something into google and was sent here.
i was told of the untold legend of the answerbank by an old blind man with grey hair that's sits on the corner of the bridgegate in the saltmarket, he turned to me with a weary expression and muttured the words 'you must go my son, go and seek the treasures of the answerbank'. right then i knew, i knew i had to seek this land. with forlorn eyes and a wry smile. hello friends and followers.
Found it via Google. Cant remember the question. Can I just add that the adverts section has had new on it ever since I joined and people were asking when it was going to be removed.
