After having several, and then beggaring about, I have lost the ability to get an avatar. Everytime I try to upload one, it comes back with no image. Any hints or clues please as t how I can sucessfully get one.

I think I'm doing it right, it just won't appear and says no image. I managed it a couple of times and then AB went bottoms up and I can't do it now.

Just testing - I've changed mine to a pic of our Smudge in 1976! Hope it works....

Yep, it worked, so no problem with the system.

i've tied many times following the instuctions from other posts. and always get the "no image" described by netibiza.

Have you ever had an avatar appear at all perigra, only Neti has had some show before?

No. it's never worked.
i always make sure it's at most 10kb and a gif file. i'v tried lots of different files too but to no avail!

Oh dear, what a nuisance perigra!

I either find images on Google, then save them to my pictures & upload them that way. Or upload personal photo's from my pictures & ditto.

How have you been doing yours? Just seeing if I can be of any help....

same as you smudge, tried pics google and my own pics.

just tried again.
i used browse to find my pic which i double clicked on. the file name then appeared in the field next to browse. i then clicked on submit, the page updated, the field next to browse goes blank and instesd of 3 gray images under where it says current avatar there's 3 buttons saying avatar, avatar5 and avatar6.
No pic!!!

Mmmm - maybe the Tech's can throw some light on that one then. P'raps you could contact them tomorrow (or today, as it's just past midnight)!

Hope you'll be able to get it sorted out soon, but in the meantime, sleep well.

Try this:

1. Go to your pictures.
2. Click on a picture (once)
3. Click on 'Open'
4. Press 'Submit'

Then try to post on here & see what happens...

Obviously go to your Profile & click on Browse first to get to your pictures...without double clicking.

Don't give up neti and perigra! It took me nearly a week to make my avatars show. Every single time I hit the Submit button an error message appeared, then ED told me to fill in every detail on My Profile - and thankfully that did the trick.


It's odd because my avatars range from 70 - 150 in size, gifs, bmp as well as jpegs. Just luck, I think.

also once i've clicked on submit, my q&a count goes to zero and my join date goes to 01 January 0001

i clicked the submit at the bottom of profile page first instead of the submit button next to the browse button.

I thought it might have been 'cos you were double clicking on some of the boxes, but it must be something else. I've never had any problems uploading an avatar, but as Cetti says, some have, although I still haven't completed all the details on My Profile & it still works! As I say, best to contact the Tech's in the morning. Nite, nite.
