Look, it must be possible to identify the computer used by this nuisance and refuse him or her or postings whatever version of pseudonym used and whatever the email address. It's all very well our resolving not to answer but the fact is the offender is persistent to such a degree that he/she pushes proper questions off the page regardless, and the result is that people do not see and learn from the proper answers .That makes AB less useful to the public. So please do something. This is a community site, not a one poster dominating site.

its not possible.ab wont do anything.and the advertising generated by his random posts , they pop up on the right hand side , probably earns ab quite a bit of cash.sorry but you just need to get used to it

Additionally - the abuse that has been thrown around here lately has been completely ignored by AB Ed. What exactly does the word Editor mean? Notice when the last post appeared in Editor's Blog? Way back on December 11th, 2007. What we really need is a Head Hitter.
theres no ed its students running here.end of.its all about the money.money over everything else.
I wonder if he/she can be encouraged to be civil? Might be worth a try? Any trick cyclists about?
its gwavitate that is posting abbusively, not gravitate.
It is possible to stop the user of that internet address from posting.

AB choose not to.

Of course it wouldn't stop him/her posting from a public internet or a friends.
its obviously too difficult fior ab as theyve got their fingers in other pies too.
How about not playing into his/her hands - and totally ignoring the posts?

Even the people who reply in the form of abuse are making him centre stage, so I suggest we all use common sense and not even post ways of removing this irritation and continue to enjoy this site as usual.

Sausagechip. I can appreciate your comments. We all realise it is easy to 'give' him a chance. We are not the ones being abused. Equally it is easy to say simply ignore him. That is simple for us - again WE are not the ones beig abused. Sausagechip - how do you think his 'victims' are feeling? In A Pickle's idea is excellent - campaign for an ignore button on AB. But that is beyond our control. AB Editor does not seem to be interested in harmony within the chat areas. The Editor has not spoken in here since December 11th!!! Does that tell you something?
The Ignore button is a wonderful idea but it does not work. There is something in all of us that enjoys cyber scraps. For my part I hate hatred and particularly when it becomes personal, but I do love gibbonesque boxing.

I ask again, as ever and eternally, who is WE ?

Whiffey, whenever I talk to my brother and say 'we' he always ask if I have mice in my pocket.

Hope this helps!
Whiffey. I use the word WE as meaning the majority of people who contribute to and enjoy colloquy. I (note I use the singular) always believed that AB was an Answerbank - not a pit within which to spew bitterness to others.
sir.prize, I agree with you, except that I find the surreal posts very very amusing. If these fools post anywhere other than Chatterbank then they should of course be immediately banned, for several years. However, surely we must let our minds bend softly to the gangling idiots, many of whom have probably been to major universities. They bring jewels of happiness to my life anyway, just for being daft.

Point taken whiffey. Chatterbank may or may not be a suitable area to banter to and fro. But to aim hurt and abuse to an innocent in Animals and Nature, who obviously is going through a stressful time, is both unacceptable and abhorrent.
Answerbank TERMS OF USE include . . . . .
9. You agree that any posting or contribution you make to such forums will not be defamatory, discriminatory, racist, obscene, offensive, threatening or in breach of any copyright or in any way unlawful or objectionable.
