I've recently upgraded my PC and I want to transfer all my MSN emoticons from my old PC, onto my new PC.

I've tried doing a search on my old PC to see where they might be stored - but I can't find them anywhere.

Does anyone know how/where I can find where my MSN emoticons might be stored?? I had LOADS on my old PC and now I've got zilch :(

I've got a memory stick so I was hoping to copy them from old PC ---> memory stick ---> new PC.

Any ideas anyone please ???

Hmmm - just tried saving an emoticon that I used to have, that someone just sent me and it said: "The image you choose is already being used for another emoticon. Please choose another image".

Well, the image is no-where to be found on MSN, so I've no idea what's going on.
Have you tried to use the emoticons on the upgraded PC yet? I think maybe they are not stored on your computer but at your account in the MSN computer. When you are using them you are making a direct link to the emoticon at MSN's computer.

I've logged onto MSN on my new PC and I haven't got any emoticons (apart from the default ones) - so I'm assuming that all emoticons are stored on your own PC somewhere and not in the MSN computer.

Problem sorted :)

Just for the record, in case anyone else encounters this problem, I was struggling to find where the emoticons were stored 'cos I wasn't looking in hidden files and folders.

They are located in:

C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\"email address"\ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons

I just copied that file onto my memory stick then dropped it into the appropiate place on my new PC. It didn't work straight away - I needed to log out and back into MSN and hey presto, I've got all my emoticons back .

Ahhh the sweet smell of success .

I use Icon Backup..
Icon Backup allows you to save, backup, recover, and share your Windows Live Messenger images, avatars, backgrounds, and emoticons.
