that pop-up appearances are not a smart way to go about the job .... it now looks like the Ed has taken onboard your point.
would be far better if there was a message board showing on the homepage http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ for ALL to see immediately when signing-in ..... most unsatisfactory to find perchance the Ed's next appearance date announced some 18 replies down unhighlighted buried within another thread .....
I wonder of what age and experience this new Ed is .....

yeah, i agree .... not all is going well!
a pity - but maybe the bar is set too high?
the danger is that any new Ed may only 'draw' from his own experiences in the past, and not be inclusive by listening and taking onboard wider ideas .... often happens, ie the site is 'fashioned' in this Ed-s mold and then the next ed re/fashions it etc etc
one key factor is the age group of abers and terefore experiences & expectations are widely different .....
The site is maybe trying to be all things to all men / and, therefore will fall down between!
I lean towards a firm seggregation between encompassing those who use the site from a knowlege base perspective ------- to those who want a social networking site.
All can be accommodated and happy, BUT I don-t think that -all in the same big pot- will work. Some kind of -sectioning is needed.
