How does this Answerbank work? Is it like a chat group for meeting people etc or just for questions. Is it very strict with how it operates? I would not like to get things wrong having just found the site. Is it alright putting this Q in this section? I noticed how some people get upset about that.

primary purpose is definitely a Q&A site, but some questions do result in extended 'debates'. There are unofficial off-shoot groups where users of this site gather (myself not included) for more informal chat. Nothing really strict about it, just use common sense - post questions in the most appropriate category, use the automatic search facility to make sure your question hasn't been answered before, make your question's title relevant and specific and abide by usual netiquette (no ALL CAPS, etc) and you'll be fine. Just don't ask about tasty tasty very very tasty

Thats nice of you PaulB, thanks.
muggyjim - welcome from me too. Most of us a friendly normal folk, you'll come across the odd rude arrogant **** - just ignore them. To get a measure of the level of sanity, type animal beginning with N in the search facility. I'd advise against posting it as a Q though!! Welcome & enjoy ;+))

On first impressions, you are a friendly lot. I dont understand some of the references, but I am sure that it will become clear in time.
Welcome Muggyjim. Another thing you'll notice is that AB has an overenthusiastic automatic prudery editor, so you have to be imaginative when writing, for example, racco*n or coc*roach or they'll turn into ******* and ********* and make your sentence even more mysterious than you intended. All adds to the fun.
Welcome......it`s a very good site for Q&A....don`t appear to be too many STRICT rules and most replies are informative, polite, and in some cases funny. Outrageous and impolite replies are often edited out....thank you Ed. It can help to have a wierd sense of humour. ENJOY!!!!!!!
Welcome, muggyjim. Are you in the UK?

Hiya, hope you enjoy your time on Answerbank. I've only been visiting for a while and it's brilliant. You will find some odd questions now and again..!! also as New Forester says words do get edited. Pi$$ed/pi55ed gets through but not the '..ss..', same ar5e, the f word, s**t and don't dare mention the naughty bits by slang name!! The auto editor will blow up!! Oh and if you find obscene (etc) language hit the report button and chose the relavent option. Pleased to have you here and happy reading!!
Hi Muggyjim. I just wanted to echo the previous sentiments and say welcome to Answerbank and happy posting. When I first discovered this site I barely slept for months because I became so hooked on it ! It can become very addictive so don't say you weren't warned ! You will from time to time come across the odd rude comment but take it with a pinch of salt. In general , the AB users are a friendly bunch , so welcome aboard x
