has anyone else paid for access to the 1911 census in beta version? it is closed from tomorrow.
My brother-in-law has paid to look at the London adresses for the Hawkes families and related links and the info is amazing! It confirms so much and ansers so many questions.
Even though it may have seemed an expensive fee, the actual info resulting from it is well worth it. Of course we had so much detail alreadym which meant none of the purchases were wasted.
It is �6.95 for 60 credits and 30 credits lets you search for a specific name in a location. I am delighted with the results, considering the 1911 is going to be a subscription release only on Find my Past next year. it is always going to cost money.

what is fascinating is that they have released the actual form that everyone filled in themselves written out in their own hand!!!! This is the first time we have seen this, previosuly the information was colated by the enumerators.
I now have several pages for the family's entries on the 1911, the person who filled the form in has also signed it at the bottom!!!! Which is amazing too!

there is a section for the number of children from a current marriage, with a column for any children of the marriage that may have died! That is a reflection of the time, when measles and flu were killers.

I highly recommend the outlay as long as you have sufficient info to pinpoint a district

Hello Dot .... I didn't realise that the 1911 census was available at all - how do I access it?

I paid the �6.95 as I run a genealogy class and I know they would like to see the layout, documents etc. The problem at the moment is that only 3 counties are available to view - London, Middlesex, Staffordshire and Wiltshire. I have only 1 relative from London and he had left by 1911, but I put the surname in anyway and got other members of the family. I found the site very easy to use and it was great to see the actual document filled in by an ancestor.
I do object though to having to pay the yearly fee to Find My Past, and then having to pay again to view the document. What happens if you belong only to Ancestry? I expect that eventually we will be able to view it free.
