make a section safe for say 11-16 year olds a junior section where maybe shy kids can talk to other kids about their problems where parents have to make sure its safe by giving authority to use it, i think a junior answerbank would be great, i wouldnt let my daughter on here at the mo as it stands but would feel happy with a safe site for kids to use

I don't think there are more untrustworthy people in the world than there have every been - it's just that those that are have a ideal medium in the internet!! Most people are still very trusty.

Its also a shame that kids have taken to the PC so much (gaming & learning etc) as there really is nothing quite like having pals face-to-face to go over stuff and have a giggle too.
When sonic was all the rage my 7yr old niece had no time to talk to folk for playing on the PC till my sis nipped it in the bud a bit.

thats ok everyone has the right to their opinion and i agree kids need to go out to socialize rather than sitting in front of a screen just thought it would be good for homework hints and chatting about music ect as some kids these days are not allowed out.. ok i lost i admit defeat....

Weeal, how right you are. I also think that's it's very wrong for young children to have computers in their own rooms - they should be interacting with friends and family.

Really, it's all up to the parents to lay down ground rules and show kids that there are other things in life.

I think it's a shame that we are wrapping our kids in cotton wool these days and not giving them freedom to go out and play. We have to teach them to take care, but it is wrong to make them nervous about everybody who is a stranger. We hear so much about dreadful things happening to kids, but, in fact, these things have always taken place, we just haven't been so bombarded by media reports. The danger is that we will have children who are afraid to go out
and can't socialise properly.

In principle it is a good idea, but unfortunately there are some real weirdos out there
and I dont think there are any arrangements via the net that could be practically put into place to protect the youngsters. Remember paedos can be very skilled in deception and manipulation, and in getting youngsters to keep secrets from their parents. Sadly the few creeps spoil it for kids

okay dokey thanks for your opinions peeps, this site definatley needs tightening as we have had veiws from one 15 year old on this question so obviously under 18s do go on answerbank and with some idiots no names mentioned it needs adressing can anyone come up with a better suggestion then???
