Rude Respondents.

As I understand matters; any registered member of AnswerBank is ony a 'mouse click' away from being able to report to the Editor instances of offensive questions being raised. However, a similar position does not prevail in respect of rude answers to sensible questions.

Accordingly, I would wish something to be done on the issue concerned...............Ron

The AB Editor should be well aware of this issue since he saw fit to "terminate" valued ABers who were deemed dissenters for pushing this very point.

Perhaps we should await the much vaunted AB 2.0 to see if a Report Answer function is returned.

We use to have a 'report this answer' function. Not anymore though. I think it should be brought back. Some threads shouldn't be banned just because of a few...!!!

One person's definition of "rude" may differ wildly from another's.

Different people have different standards. Someone may take offence at something which another person, for example, may find amusing.

Apart from the pomposity of your phrase, you do not give any example of what, in your opinion, could be construed as "rude answers". Therefore it is difficult for anyone else to make an appraisal, yes?

The standards that matter are contained in the Site Rules.

Also it is relatively simple for the Editor to make an "appraisal" as to whether an answer breaches said rules, however it is evidently far more difficult to bring such an answer to the Editor's attention since the removal of the Report Answer function.

G'evening folks.....I'm sorry parafin if I appear to be somewhat pompous; but I hope you will agree that I am not being rude in expressing my opinions. I think kempie is certainly right .... there are AB rules and it is merely my view that the Editor needs to be made aware of any breaches to them.

The "Report an Answer" function was fine except - as far as I could see there was no appeal against the removal of an answer,, and you were given no reason for its removal in the first place. In my time I have had 5 answers removed, and to this day I have no idea why. It's water under the bridge now, but I would dearly love to know why, for example, I had an answer removed that simply said I didn't fancy the idea of mint-flavoured custard............

Hi Narolines....... Answerbank appears to have gone in the same direction as High Street banks. Investments do not produce the interest we would wish to receive from our deposits.

No way can we appeal against the decisions which are taken by the serfs who are employed by Answerbank.

At the present time I am awaiting a reply from the Editor on the issue of not receiving an e/mail for Subscribed links; which was something that I always had.
I have reminded the Ed that I am awaiting a reply on the matter; but don't hold out much hope because correspondents in AB have suggested that he or she is too busy sending communications to regular correspondents with a request for them to return to the site.

I like Answerbank but think that there is a case for those in charge of the site to seriously consider the views of its contributors. ...............Ron
