Variability in Font rendition in MS Word 2007
How can the same font with the same font size and weight look different in the same document? Is there another obscure text property?
I am importing some documents to MS Word 2007 from an OCR application. Parts of the text come up with the same font type, font size and font weight yet they are clearly different. One part can be substantially bolder than the other yet both are identically formatted.
It is not a screen artifact. The same sentence in two adjecent lines willl have quite different lengths.
The difference survives changing font, font size and font weight. One part stays bolder and the difference can be clearly seen when zoomed in to see the pixel structure.
If I paste the chunky text unformatted into a lightweight line it takes on the smaller apperance.

I tried every which way to get the pasted text to accept the same attributes as the rest of the document, with no success. Eventually I pasted the text into a plain text editor to remove the formatting, then copied and pasted the plain text.
