Duplicate sirens thread

How did the sirens question get into P&P as well as HiW? Could they be amalgamated?

Because somebody asked the same question twice.  Yes they can.

It's time-consuming but I do try to amalgamate duplicate threads if posted by the same person. (Obviously, sometimes, two or more people ask the same or very similar questions.) Ocasionally, if one thread has many answers and the other just one or two, it's quicker and esier just to delete the smaller thread: that means the answers too are lost. Any guilt I feel at deleting those answers is offset by the time I save to moderate other threads!
