Usernames and Emails

Can we have an explaination as to why there are usernames, emails and ip address for people when you type in www.theanswerbank.co.uk/test please?

That's not the problem, dr b. People register here with a username to protect their identity. Some of those have registered with a real name as part of their email addresses. Social network sites also trace people by email address, so they could be identified that way.

looks like the frontofmind thing was a set-up for staff; I presume they switched later and didn't bother listing staff addresses any more if they already knew them.

Nope, spambots don't have everyone's email addresses, though they may happen upon them eventually. Putting them into circulation like this makes it a lot easier for them.

its not just people can spam you, they could also look you up on facebook as velvetvee is doing with some users and seeing their profile pics and basic details.

leggy is probably scared that someone will find his email on there, put it into facebook and actually see what he looks like. then they make up a fake facebook account and try to add him as friends to see all his personel pictures and info.

he wont admit he is worried tho. he will just act the hard man and call me names and throw abuse and claim its a fake. and that is exactly why i dont want people like him knowing my usename and finding it with my email on it :(

if it is a fake list leggy, why is it updating everytime a new user joins?

since i joined with this fake username there have been another 4 after me that have joined tonight and their emails are showing!

If you think it is fake then why dont you and MWB who also doesnt believe it go and register a fake name and then you will see yourself its genuine when it updates!

At least Andy Hughes hasn't used the same E Mail address to register on Facebook. Certain persons are claiming it's all fake and that they don't care, but I would say it has worrying elements. The site admin ought to offer an explanation really.

IAW - this is obviously bothering you, so let the Ed know your fears at the earliest opportunity. No one else is concerned, because even if they had their email addys and names broadcast - as has happened several times on here anyway - it's no big deal to anyone who's genuinely just coming on for a laugh and a chat, and being themselves.
If it's not fake, then I'm sure there's a logical explanation, and I'm also sure that Leggy doesn't give a hoot who knows his details. He's posted pics of himself on here - AND his addy - and I'm sure that if somone spammed him, he'd just delete it.

Does it matter pink? So - it's not fake. I've given my thoughts on it. Let anyone who wants to, flood the Ed and the techies with questions, and maybe we'll get an answer - but I just don't think it matters. The only people who're going to be concerned are those who want to hide for some reason.

i am not worried about leggy. he is the one being nasty and denying it all. i dont care if he is on the list or not as its my name and my email on the list that im upset at.

if it is fake then how comes it is updating itself with people as soon as they join? go and use a fake email and username to register and it appears on the list near the bottom of the first part!!!! that might not worry anyone who isnt on the list but it isnt good for new people joining is it?

icemaiden -- i understand you dont care but i use my proper email that is on that list for facebook and myspace and other sites and if they can find me on facebook and myspace. they can cause i tried it. then it means they can see my picture, and could maybe find ways to see other stuff about me i dont want to be seen. and who do i accept as a friend on facebook if i dont know who is real or who is from here being fake to see my personal pictures of my family and friends?

if you are not upset that is great, your lucky but for me and anyone else on that list it is the same as posting my phone number up on here or a picture of me on here. its very upsetting to me and i love answerbank but i cant believe this has been going on and worried about how long for. it mite say why i have a lot of spam sent to me over the last months too. :(
