Why is there not a facility to delete or even star out the masked F word?
I'm fully aware that there's many folk who will be able to get round it, and you can't possibly delete them all but surely the F word, mispelled to say the same as a popular clothes company should be one of them?
And yes, I know that some folk will say that it's only swearing if we read it as such- but no one is naive enough to believe they were added into posts to be read as anything other than profanity.
As a family forum, which this is supposed to be- isn't this something that should be looked into?

You know I love ya truly madly deeply B00 but profanities have a place in my heart too:) Not when they're used against someone, but that's another matter. And not when they're used in generally denigrating sentences like What are all these ******* [insert nationality of your choice here] doing on our planet, or Women are ***** , and so on � but that's also another matter, one that requires moderating of the site by a human and not by a robot. For me, it's not the words, it's how you use them. But even if I did want a ban on profanities� sorry but where there's a will there's a way. Not winding you up B00, I'm just saying.

The use of the F word is nothing compared to some of the content that appears in chatterbank or body and soul (lots of grown up stuff in there) so the family forum thing doesnt really count and can't really be enforced.
I don't agree with the F word being used to abuse another user but in general i dont see it being any worse than other stuff on here.

Boo, reading through the posts here it occurred to me that although I occaisionally type the sort of shorthand profanity to which you refer, I don't swear when speaking.
In fact, I hate the modern habit of using bad language continually regardless of whether there are children, old ladies or anyone else around. The English language is so rich and varied that there is always a word to express every nuance of thought and feeling; so why do people liberally sprinkle the F word throughout their speech? It can only be because they do not have the education or intelligence to do otherwise.

Paraffin- if you'd read my previous responses, instead of spitting venom at me, you'll have noticed that I've said I do swear, in real life, should the occasion calls for it, so how that makes me sitting with rose titnted glasses on is beyond me. I still fail to see why "just because there's worse on here" that we (ok me) should find it acceptable to see the F word used on a forum that under 18's can and do access.
And yes, I take on board your comments that the vast majority of under 18's swear, and could probably teach us all a few new ones too! So with that in mind, should we then start accepting other thingson here? P0rn for example? Afterall, they've probably seen far worse than us....so we should sprinkle the site with links to those then?

BOO....this site is a microcosm of the real world and all that that involves. I understand where you are coming from and It is indeed creditable but, in my opinion, not practicable.
Porn and the F word is freely available on the Net and to ban either of them from this site, would serve no useful purpose, except perhaps to hold us up to ridicule.
