Casey - Will try cleaning them but shouldn't I turn them off before I clean them cause wouldn't having them on electrocute me(!!?) & not using any hair products, I don't even use a heat protection spray, I tried the Lee Stafford one which is apparently really good & only used a tiny bit and it made my hair greasy! The same happened with the Loreal Hot Straight (the one with Beyonce in the advert) It's beginning to really annoy me and as well as being greasy it's probably damaging my hair!
montyy - I'm not to sure about it being ever so slightly moist, I blow dried it after I washed it and it felt dry but maybe that was the problem, how long do you suggest waiting after blow drying/ it feeling dry after you've let it dry naturally before I straighten it?
Please Still keep you advice coming!
I have the same problem, my hair is also quite straight but with kinks at the ends so i tend to firstly blow dry it so it's fairly dry, although it can still be quite damp when i straighten it, i use ceramic straighteners and i was finding that my hair looked quite greasy after straightening. I was'nt using a heat protector so decided to invest in the GHD iron oil... quite pricey at 13 a bottle, i wish i had'nt have bothered, it made my hair so greasy and the smell was'nt too nice either. My hairdresser then told me about Tigi Catwalk, a heat protector spray called Fashionista which smells gorgeous! i spray it on before blow drying but try not to use too much on the roots as i've found it just looks more greasy, also i try and use the straighteners just on the ends of my hair where the kinks are, if you've already blow dried the roots straight theres no need to make them greasy by straightening them and also blow drying them will give your hair a bit of volume rather than that stuck to the head look! hope this helps??!!
