Was it any different from asking people what their favourite Beatles song is or loads of other similar questions that still remain.
I am feeling quite offended!
A general comment (can't answer specifics because, frankly, it is hard to keep track of each thread. There are nearly 80,000 of them, after all!)
The level of purely chatty posts has caused considerable disquiet for many users. This site is about questions and answers (not many of them around) as opposed to chat (plenty of choice for that online) so we are trying to respond to this by removing some of the chat and focussing again on Q&A. Hope this makes sense.
Ok. I was joking about being offended. I can live quite easily with that question being banned.
So why only remove some of them? Why not remove all questions that might be chatty? I don't think it would take too long to flick through all categories and remove all the new chatty questions on, say, a twice daily basis. And why was the other question I mentioned removed after two weeks!? There doesn't seem to be any management of how this site is policed by the editors - it's all a bit haphazard.
I agree Fakeplastic i think that was a good question.
Also in people and places,
Does the Queen Have A Door Key?
Does the Queen every nip out for a pint of milk etc, come home and have to shout through the letter Box? With all that security there must be locks on everything, Hee Hee

And why was my answer banned: Yes its under the doormat!! when this answer remained
No but she has a pretty dorky family.
If you look at the question it ends with Hee Hee, indicating it was posted with humour. Answers were given one saying no the other saying yes
I have to say this is becoming more prevalent and it is definitely to the detriment of the site. This was a perfectly reasonable question and one which would have given a good insight into AB users.
At the risk of being banned I have to say that some of the editing of late seems to have no rhyme or reason. rod has a very valid point, especially when (he says through gritted teeth) Marlboro questions are STILL appearing on this site.
C'mon AB Ed, some of this is becoming tedious now, sort it out.
I was reading that thread earlier today Fakeplastic...was really interesting! You see lots of questions on here that are not a proper serious question...so don't know why they delete just some.
Personally, that is exactly the type of question I come on here to read and answer! You get to know that little bit more about other regulars. Although general chat might be annoying, would be good to have somewhere that those who want to ask interesting questions about other AB users could.
"I don't think it would take too long to flick through all categories and remove all the new chatty questions on, say, a twice daily basis" -- you might be surprised, but moderation is extremely time-consuming. That also means we don't always see threads in the same order that any individual user (i.e. you) might do. Hence, I think, some of the confusion. In an imperfect world, we're doing our best.
having read why some answers are banned, i then realised that my answer to the phrases and sayings question how would you use the latin phrase " carthage must be destroyed" would probably now be erased, and realising that by pointing this out there is greater chance of having it erased sooner, but if i have brought it to the attention of readers before its imminant demise, it may get the airing that such creative superlatives richly deserve.
