I never thought much of Denise Van Outen,not until I bought a copy of the new version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "Tell Me On Sunday" which Denise sings.
I was very impressed by her,and this is coming from a grouchy,hypercritical musicals lover! LOL

PS:~
We saw Craig Chalmers (who came 2nd) in Jopseph at Eastbourne last April,he was quite good,but his voice wasn't that big,and his acting was minimal,don't know where the others are though.
Mind you,I have forgotten their names so I am not much use there then! LOL

Thanks mr v- we saw craig in Joseph here in Dublin and Keith - the dark haired guy - I think he was second was the narrator - both guys were scots - Keith was very good as the narrator which is also a good part. I'm a big musicals lover myself - I did see matti Webb doing tell me on a Sunday years ago over here also

Yes,Keith (Jack) was our narrator too,he would make a good Joseph,if a little bit on the short side;but he has IMHO a better voice than Craig,but of course Craigs blonde good looks sway the producers?

That is - marti Webb! Lee seems to be concentrating on his musical careers instead of musicals these days

I don't think Denise has done "Sunday" on stage but the CD (if you can get it) is really good.
Up till then I had just thought of her as a bimbo.

I met Stephen Sondheim last year.

If you remember bill kenwright had a thing about craig and it was his prouction - you must has seen the same one as we did, if I remember there was a third 'joseph' as one of the brothers. Where did you meet Stephen Sondheim - that's impressive ?

I thought it was a great,if maybe a bit overblown production.(Joseph that is)
I went to see "A Little Night Muisc" at the Choccy Factory in London.
As I had a stick (I had twisted my ankle) they put me in the fron row next to SS!
Well, he is 80 next year,and I am 86,so we chatted a bit,but of course he was whisked away in the interval,and after.
However,it was nice to hear what he told me about "Night Music"

Wow great story to tell - I once sat a few rows behind chris de burgh at a play and he's very small LOL - that's my best claim to fame. We did see wicked on broadway last year wow

Yes,I am tempted by Wicked too.I have the Broadway cast CD.
Being pensioners,we can get the best seats(in London) on A Wednesday for only £30.00
I presume that is cheap? LOL

BTW SS said Night Music was the most difficult musical he had written,and when it was (sort of) panned by the NY critics he was going to gice up writing musicals.
He seemed to enjoy th Choccy Factory production though.I kept looking sideways and seeing him mouth the songs"

Slightly surreal I would say, imagine how the cast felt. I have that wicked cd too with Edina Mendel . It's one of my favouites. Going to see 'we will rock you' here in January.

It is queen but I know no more than that. We aren't lucky enough to have a west end here - I think I would probably be bankrupt by now if we had .

We can get to London in 1hr 20mins so not bad,apart from the prices(average £50.00) so we wait till they come to Eastbourne.

Sorry mr v - I'm in Dublin and not that strong a swimmer so it's quite expensive to go to London - although I do have relatives over there. Was in eastbourne more than 20 years ago - lovely place

What is the theatrical scene like in Dublin.
I am descended from a Huguenot who had a brewery in St Francis St in 1730,before that they were in France.

Eastbourne is still nice but too full of old people for my liking! LOL
We have a brand new (and very avant garde) art gallery now,right next to the Congress Theatre.

Long way back to trace mr v. Theatre scene is not bad - getting better in fact. We have about 4 concert/shows/plays booked in the next 5 months so not doing too badly I suppose. Do most things make their way to eastbourne from the west end

Yes they sort of percolate down,they are usually here as part of a UK tour at the Congress (the bigger theatre) and then the plays go to the Devonshire Park, a charming Victorian Theatret.
