Possibly the red tops know their audience too well and dumb down to accommodate, or possibly real life is too grim, the editors do not want to jolt their readers out of their blissful ignorance, and feed them pap instead.

It is not only the red tops.
I was driving home from the South of England on Monday morning to the Midlands and the only station I could get on the radio in some places was BBC Radio 5 live.
Between about 9am and 10am they had a phone in about Jordan, then later they had a phone in about x Factor and Jedward.
I could not believe it, and this was BBC Radio 5 live, and so called "news" station.

i think that the fact they are on the pages means that this is what sells, this is what the media are telling us we need to know about. all the other stuff in the world is boring depressing and can be found somewhere inside at the bottom of page 5. but forget that Sugar, cheryls got new teeth and her dress is weird, read it here first.
is the sun doing position of the month yet ? or hasn't that delightful element of girl-celeb-wedding-fashion-mag seeped into main stream news yet ?

I think this is in the right category. It is a complaint about the media and the news they offer. Unfortunately, it's this sort of 'news' that the public that reads this sort of paper wants!! Doesn't say a lot for their readers does it! I don't buy newspapers except the local rag and that doesn't mention Jordan or the Xfactor.

thanks for the support on my question/ I dont actualy buy the red tops only cant avoid seeing their front pages when im going into buy my preference. I do feel maybe the red tops and such put this crap on their front pages yes maybe to hide the fact that the real news is depressing a lot of the time, but surely it would make us think more and do something about it if we were faced with facts. Thanks K.
