Ed, I like to suggest adding a new category in the users profile page.

You currently have -

• Threads Involving Me
• My Questions
• Q's I answered
• Recently viewed Q's
• Subscribed threads

• I think you should add *Answers removed

I'm sure most of us on here are curious to know which of our answers are removed. I know I am, especially when I know most of my responses are faultless. Some of them are said for a laugh and 'tongue-in-cheek' , and are never malicious or rude. Yet, the quantity of my removed answers seem to be increasing on a daily basis.

I agree. I think out of courtesy we should be made aware of the reason for any of our answers being removed. Perhaps this one will be.!!!

I get a bit annoyed when I get increasing numbers of answers removed, but it is because a whole thread has been removed and in every case where I have had an answer removed, my contribution has been something along the lines of shame on you for posting this and once I think saying that I had reported it. That seems a bit unfair...

A very good idea because I recently had some answers removed and they certainly weren't rude or abusive.

Dear All,

The Answer to the problem regarding "collateral damage" (i.e. posting on a trolling thread which then gets removed) is: Don't Feed the Trolls! Ignore them and report them. Letting them know that you're in disagreement only spurs them on.

While it is a nice idea I think the amount of "appeals" would rocket. It would all be for nothing:

"Due to the high volume of posts, all editorial decisions are final, and discussion relating to the removal or editing of posts will not be entered into by the AB Editor."

And finally: the problem with "tongue in cheek" answers is that the person asking the question might not be "in the mood" for an anonymous stranger being funny! Unless you're in Chatterbank of course.

Once a question is answered it no longer appears in the unanswered question tab - so to a user after some real information a flippant remark not only doesn't help, it damages their chance of getting a real answer.

Sorry to be so down on this everyone - but I just can't imagine it would work to anyone's benefit!

I don't set out to have my posts removed, but if they do go I'm not in the least concerned about it.
The increasing tally doesn't count against me in any way and therefore doesn't matter.

I know I ought to ignore the trolls but I can't help myself. Sorry..........

Thanks Ed. for addressing my suggestion and answering my question. Also, thanks everyone for your support and input. One bit though Ed, it's difficult to tell who's troll and who's not, therefore it's unfair to have innocent and genuine answers/responses removed due to partaking on a 'troll thread’. Any chance of 'newbies' being green for a period of time, as they were previously?

Well, maybe you keep cheeky remarks in ChatterBank and with users you know?

A lot of people us this site simply as a reference point, so taking the Fosters isn't always helpful!

With repect to you Spare Ed, I think your are avoiding the real issue concerned.

We need to be told the reasons for our answers having been removed.

Perhaps this present one of mine is open to removal and I'll never know the reason for it; if it does disappear from the columns of AB.

i have a way of knowing which of my answers have been removed, I do a peri and report them myself, it saves any confusion and at least i can't get annoyed at me for reporting me,
