Is it possible for me to delete a question I have posted, being as I now know the answer from another source; and no-one here has yet answered the question anyway, and I wouldn't want to waste anyone's time looking for an answer that i no longer require?

Yes It's Living in a box - Room in your heart

Thanks

Just post an answer to your question stating that you no longer require an answer.  You can close the question also, so that you don't receive notification of answers.
I agree though, I would prefer to be able to delete a question completely.  I once posted a q. and immediately I said to myself, that's silly, of course I know what to do.  I e-mailed the Ed. and asked him to delete it.  But it would be easier to do it ourselves.
Also an editing facitlity would be even nicer. The question could still remain but the contents removed with an "edited by <username> <date>" message.
