i ´ve been using open office for several months now, its so smooth and professional. but as i said in previous threads, not good for attaching to emails, as no one can open them. anyway i was in another part of the country the a few weeks ago using a mac, the "Word" on this was perfect. but again a problem sending emails with word attachments. so i had to ask a friend if i could use their laptop to produce a document in word only yesterday in fact. that was the worst hour or so i´ve ever spent in ages. not at all smooth, it took me twice the time as it would with o.office, so i am now in 2 minds about buying Word now.

i did, but as i said b4, no one was able to open my attachments. so this must mean it doesn´t work.
When you save your document does it have the file extension .doc? That is the extension for Word. Open Office Writer documents have the extension .odt Make sure you select Save As and save as Word.

to be honest TTG, i ´m a little miffed, cuz when i done what you and other ab´s told me what to do, i got several people replying to me saying they cudnt open the attachements, but also 1 o2 saying they cud open their attachments. what was more frustrating, was when i tried to have a peek at the sent attachements when i clicked on my sent emails, my computer wouldnt allow me to see the documents!!
i will again look at all the advice, and we´ll see
