Dear Ed, can't you change the way we do our avatars? This gravatar nonsense takes a ridiculous amount of time to change them. On FB and Twitter it's almost instantaneous, here we have to wait for DAYS, and then we don't know if it going to happen???

After seeing your question I changed mine on Gravatar at around 8.30 this morning. It took around 25 minutes to change to a black square. (But it doesn't look like the preview -s hould have star and moon on- so I'll be changing back).
you have got a yellow star with the sun on

Mine has taken a whole day to change. factor, yours is a black square, is that right?
Netibiza, I don't have any problem with this - I've changed my avatar several times, the last one yesterday afternoon, and after coming back on AB, making one post and then doing control+F5, the new one came almost immediately.
^ PS factor has had a yellow smily sun for some time now. Could it be your browser?
^factor is just a black square - done to old ctrl F5 thingy but still a black square...
Netibiza is now all lilac, very pretty!
think if you clear your temp files and history it will change quicker
Mine used to be a smiley sun face but I changed it this morning to a black square which I've set up to test the speed with which gravatars are updated. If you still see a smiley sun at 9.50 then your cache hasn't been cleared.
I can see the black square because I cleared my cache after setting up the new gravatar pic.
I'll try to switch back to a smiley sun later this morning.
Wow. Just changed it back to my smiley sun face and it took only a couple of minutes.
The system seems quite efficient to me
Clearing the cache on your local computer works for most people, but some ISP's also cache your connection and if you have an ISP that does you may have to wait until their cache automatically clears itself before a change of avatar is visible.

well factor here on my lappy you are still ablack square, and on my main computer my avatar hasn't changed, its still my old picture, how can this be? Just not working right is it?
Question Author
Boxtops, thanks for reminding me about f5 and control - yes all is working and factor is a sun!!!
We can see you both, smiley and lilac!
Question Author
ah yes, but not on my other computer, I'm still (according to jno) Priscilla queen of the desert! (me in the old days)
Have changed mine several times and the change is almost instantaneous.......never had a problem.
Same as craft...
I never had to read any of the many posts about avatars to get mine to load. honestly
Gravatr appears to have lost me =(
I'm trying to change my avatar and when I sign in it wont let me just asks me to join - so I join and it tells me an a/c with that email already exists, so I try to sign in .... catch 22
You have to use the same email address as you used for AB, oj - but the password can be anything, most of us had to put a new one in to register on gravatar because it said ours were already in use.
