Banned posters making a clean start
62 Answers
If a previously banned poster comes back under a new name (presumably this can be seen either by hints in the e-amil address, patterns in their way of typing or IP address) what is wrong with giving them a second chance to clean up their previously soiled act ?
I have seen many threads with worthy contributions from persons whose additions later get flagged up as "answer removed" and I think it's a shame if these are people who have slipped up once, got banned and are genuinely trying to make a clean start.

If the ED should view this thread, perhaps he will comment on what possibly went wrong. Or maybe other ABers have an explanation; if so, please tell us folks.
Kind regards ....Ron.

Ron if you had left it at the first paragraph I'd have accepted it as a genuine mistake but your second, in my paranoia, has a hint that in fact you actually think I'm someone else/previous member.
I have been a member for over 2 years but only ventured into CB in the last few months. Even then I don't get involved much and am usually overlooked. This is partly because I can't treat it as a cyberspace and would get very upset if I got some of the nasty posts one often sees. I don't know what else to say except I'm truly shaking at the moment and if anyone wants to read all my posts you can see what an ordinary genuine person I am.

Hi again Prudie.....I'm no authority on matters, but with my limited knowledge of computers, I have been thinking about what has happened and it is my belief that, whomsoever clicks the link which I gave, will end up with a list of their answered questions; certainly I don't think they will be yours.
Ron.

I think this link should show what Ron wanted to show us

Prudie.. our mail seems to have been posted simultaneously.
Under no circumstances am I thinking that you are or were a previous member of AB. I gave what I thought was a clickable link to 'itsnotme' but in effect seem to have given everyone a link to their own stats.
Once again my apologies....Ron.

Hi all
www.theanswerbank.co.uk/user/stats.php?cftype
=user_answered_threads
is a link to your own profile as are all links to /user/, e.g. if you hover over the "My Profile" link at the top left of the page and look at your status bar you'll see it links to /user/stats.php as well, but that page will show different content to each of us.
It's like Facebook. If you're logged in to Facebook on another tab, try clicking this link:
http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home
Prepare to be amazed ... it's your very own Facebook homepage! This is absolutely nothing to worry about. It does not mean your account has been hacked. It simply means you are logged in already, so unique, personalised content can be shown to you ...

Prudie...I hope you are still threaded and, whilst I thank ABers for having explained what happened, I am not prepared to regard you as (in your own words ) a wuss. I would have reacted in the same way as you did with the clickable link you received.
Hopefully we will meet-up again in the columns of AB as good friends.
Best wishes....Ron
