Does anyone actually use that facility? It seems rather childish to me.

I use to dish out stars sometimes....usually to something really funny.

I suppose it works in some cats better than others.
cats?
I want a "like" button, like on Facebook.
Do we have to bring cats into everything?
Catagories?
Good morning,

Why does it seem "childish"? If you asked a question in Law and received one answer which superior to all others, wouldn't you want to mark it for others looking for the same information?

I would say that, as it doesn't work right now it would be better to call it redundant!

Hi Sara, the "like" button will be on its way in the not too distant future.

Spare Ed
i didnt even knwo we had that button...
Yes categories...

It was only 8.30am...!!!
If its a "like" button, Spare Ed, then it shouldnt be labelled Mark as Best Answer. This option wouldnt work anyway because if you mark one as best and then someone else comes along with a brilliant answer, what do you do? have two bests?
excellent! can we call it "Sara's Like Button"?

no? lol!

Hello Spare Ed, why does it seem childish? Because it's like winning an award for doing well at school. Personally, I'd rather just thank someone for answering my question, or receive thanks for a question answered.

Butch, I don't let just anyone touch my bum!
It is quite a common feature on Q&A sites Naomi. It is just helpful for others who may not have been involved in the question at the time - nothing to do with "winning an award" or anything like that.

I also would like to formalise the "thanks" process. It would just been nice to see, somewhere in your profile, that "Umm has thanked you in Home & Garden here" or something similar.

The button will not be anyone's bottom. Sorry.

All the best,

Spare
Question Author
Spare Ed, yes, I've seen it elsewhere.
But, alas, this is far away on the horizon at this point! one day guys, one day!

Spare.
Personally, I don't go along with having 'best answer' buttons or 'stars' being awarded to respondents. I just feel that everyone who contributes sensibly to a thread should be given praise in the form of genuine thanks.......even if it is sometimes a belated 'thank you'....as has sometimes been so from me.

Ron
Where is it, am I daft? I don't appear have such a thing.
Question Author
Dave, you'll only find it on threads you've initiated. Find one of your own questions and have a look.
Way to go on the formalised thanks in our Profiles, Spare, that would be lovely:) Could we please also have a Gallows Hill where ABers who don't say thanks are hanged upside down. I'll help. (Although if I'm honest I suspect that not everybody has realised that it's possible to reply to your own post to say thanks. Perhaps you could also add that info somewhere?)
