User Profiles- Status Active/Banned. Suspended...
35 Answers
Occasionally we see on a User's Profile that they are Suspended or Banned. I've just looked up the profile of a user who hasn't been on for a while and the Staus is showing as:
24?
Anyone know what this means?

I know of one who recently did post a question and another member happened to spot it and said so; hence the reason for my knowledge after I had given an answer to the banned member.

... I believe the sequence of events is this:
Sun 11:37 - GodFree signs up to AB
Sun 11:46 - GodFree posts Question
Sun 11:50 - GodFree posts Answer
Sun ~11:54 - GodFree is Banned (11:54 being the latest possible time of activity based on profile stats being refreshed every 15 minutes and the last activity having been recorded at 11:39)
No further posts by GodFree, result of the ban.

Sun 18:58 - cazzz1975 notes that GodFree has been Banned (which occured 7 hours earlier)

My previous name Drisgirl shows as banned but I wasnt.
I merely took time out and changed to Dris as the 'girl' was not apt even when i registered it -dont know what i was thinking lol.
So dont assume that every user name which has 'banned' have been 'perma banned'.
I was only aware of active.suspended and banned before never 24.Hmm??

Thomas: I think someone has mentioned on here (or was it on SAB) who you used to be.
The user I was referring to with a Status of 24? is this this one
http://www.theanswerb...bers/puddicat-164562/
(i stumbled on it by accident when looking to see what Poodicat's status/recent posts record was as she hasn't been on for a while.)
I know some bannings/suspensions have been accidental- I recall Mollykins was suspended once and reinstated. I can remember at least one user who has been suspended a few times and then returned.

To answer a few questions which have been raised here:
The site is watched over by a team of (I believe) three editors and five moderators. If a moderator spots something which is 'out of order' he/she can suspend a user but not ban them. (When they click the 'suspend' button they have to submit a report to the editors, saying why they've done so). If someone is suspended they can no longer post but all of their posts previously submitted will still show on the site.
Sometimes a moderator might briefly suspend someone so that they can 'calm down a bit' (or sober up!). If that happens, any moderator (or an editor) can then reinstate the user, so that they can continue posting.
Editors can suspend users in the same way that moderators can. However they can also ban a user for good. If that happens all of that user's posts will disappear from the site.
Lastly, "Status: 24" seems to be something which AB's techies have used, probably during a site revamp at some time in the past, to indicate a 'defunct' user (i.e.someone who hasn't posted for a very long time).
