I still can't get my head round how I can refer to previous threads and then post with the number of the thread.
PLEASE will someone enlighten me ?

That is just what i mean ummmm
In the URL bar at the top of your browser you'll see something like:

http://www.theanswerbank/blahblahblablah

This is the "address" for the page you're on.

So, if you want to reference another page in this way, you can:
1. Visit that page
2. Click into the URL bar
3. Press Ctrl+A to select all the text in the box
4. Press Ctrl+C to copy it
5. Go to where you want to place the reference, write you answer etc and then press ctrl+V to paste it

Try it in notepad a few times, it'll be second nature soon enough!

Spare ed thank you very much for the explanation. Not usually so dim but have never been able to suss this out so will now go and practice.
If you are using Firefox use the add-on Tab Mix Plus which, amongst it's many excellent features, is a tab menu option to copy a tab's URL to the clipboard, so no having to mess around with the address bar.
