When I try to turn the laptop on, it shows the following message:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
If windows files have been damaged…"
And then it gives me a 2 options:
1. Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
2. Start windows normally.
If I choose option one, it loads some files, and then a black screen appears with no cursor. After waiting for 20-40 minutes, it becomes a blue screen, with flowers, much like a background for a desktop. But there is no option to do anything.
If I choose option 2 (start windows normally) it shows the windows logo for 3 minutes, and then reboots.
As said in the other post I've tried to load the recovery discs and use the F10 option but nothing works.
Thanks

If the task manager loads OK then click on the processes tab and click the "new process" button and type "explorer, exe" into the box that comes up.
With a bit of luck that might load explorer (the windows menus etc) if it does then goto start > my computer (or computer) and right click on your hard drive, select properties and on the tools tab select check this drive for errors, put a tick in all the options, click OK. It should say it can't check the drive now and ask you to OK a check on the next restart, click OK and then restart your computer.
(and then keep your finger crossed!)
