Reporting, Suspension & Banning

Hope everyone is having a good day. I'm just going to leave this here...

Just reporting does not remove or suspend users or posts.

All reporting does is alerts The Editors

Reports are not seen by User Moderators

There is no "10 reports = suspended" system AT ALL.

THERE IS A WEEKEND EDITOR. He is human.

THERE IS A EVENING EDITOR. He is human.

There are USER MODERATORS. They have the power to suspend & ban users.

Suspensions are for an ARBITARY amount of time. Editor's decide this.

Bannings are permanent.

If you think we've been unfair at any point ask yourself the following questions about the situation: "Does it involve my mate?" & "Does it involve me?" - If you answer yes to either of these you may be suffering from a social illness known as "bias"

We DO NOT tell everyone why they are banned, suspended etc, it is not a constructive use of our time.

Part of having user moderators is that they sometimes do things you don't want them to do, I am afraid you'll just have to live with it Pasta.

I was surprised to see TT back, I did wonder if it would raise questions surrounding suspensions

I think it came about because of a question about suspensions.

I'm not the one who has to live with it Ed-though I can-
it's the banned/suspended/in limbo members....I do think moderators need to learn to be more even handed....and not play at giving and taking away AB membership....which is what appears to have happened.

I never knew what TT did to get banned/suspended/whatever. Guess i'll never know now, rofl. Mind you, can't say im busting a gut to find out either.

Aren't they happy enough in SAB anymore or something?

this is what I was trying to explain yesterday, technically they are not in limbo, they are banned, suspensions mean that their posts would remain. but essentally they are banned.

Maybe a term other than 'suspension' is needed,because that seems to imply a temporary situation....and that is what confuses many.

It wasn't a very good suggestion.

"In-Limbo" is not a state you can be in on AnswerBank! If someone thinks they're "in limbo" it means they're having trouble dealing with being banned.

hrmm I think it depends on the crime pasta, some suspensions like nomercys and docspocks were only a weekend, to cool off. in fairness the ed did say in the original morning after post to TT that he wouldnt be back.

I have a mental image of users who've been suspended names in a hat. Once a week Ed & Co get said hat out and pull one out at random and state "yeah, ok, we'll reinstate this one this week".

Don't think that's the way it goes- but it's a cool image!
