It is my opinion that the Ed should publish a list of all words which have been banned for further use in the columns of AB.

There are many words in the English language which are now being used for purposes for which they were not originally intended and I understand are no longer permitted for usage in AB. e.g. Fag gots( if spelled without a space.) Consequently, I would find it difficult to ask for a recipe for such in the 'Food and Drinks' section.

How would the swear words cope if they are filtered? How would one know what the swear words were?
How would Ed do that, Ron, without actually writing down the banned words? He'd be breaking his own rules....
It's pretty obvious which words are banned, if you write them and they are substituted.
That's what I meant, Boxy.
Some of the substitutions can be quite apposite. My favourite is Salad Chef.
I like Sappho.......very apposite and erudite
Anyway they aren't banned as such.....just substituted :-)

It is possible for the Ed to post and get past the 'Swear Filter' , as a one off entry.

Lots of words are still on record for us to see in replies to his posting of which the link is above.

Ron.
I don't want to see a list of obscenities, thank you.
That is a f**king good idea there, Ron. We none of us have a clue as to what words are banned then, do we?

boxtops.......I don't really need to see a list.....I have a 'Dictionary of Slang' which will give them all to me.

My grunt is that words which are not obscene ( such as Fag gots) are being removed from AB because of their present day usage.

Actually Ron, posters do find a way to 'get around' swearing.
in fairness how often is the word fagg0ts going to crop up in daily chat?

its taken us this long to find out its a banned word
Using characters from the Character Map is a way to get around posting swear words.

Naz....As both you and I live in Wales.......I think you really meant to say 'cachiad'.

Who knows, perhaps we'll have everyone swearing in Welsh. That would present problems to the 'Swear Filterer'.

Ron.
Well, we had a bit of bad language the other evening in French, that managed to get through....
Ron, we could swear at each other in Welsh but it might go un-noticed by a lot of people.

I guess you are right Naz..............However, as I am willing to admit that I am sometimes a little devious on matters, I'll not be offended if you call me a shinach.
