My fixed contract with Scottish Power is up at the end of the month, they are offering another fixed deal but I won't know the prices until I sign up which seems a bit off to me, how are you supposed to know if it is any good or not.
What switch type of company would you recommend to search for a cheaper rate?

I am not sure, but you could try this site.

Scottish power have never been good on the customer care side of life, if they are not willing to tell you the price upfront then it can't be a very good deal. I would definately have a look on the uswitch site.
I have a good story about Scottish power. They phoned my daughter and said hello this is Scottish power. We would like to help you cut your power bills. Daughter - Oh good.
Scottish power caller: Who is your current supplier. Daughter. You are. Caller: Oh sorry goodbye. !
I'd recommend Which? site: www.which.co.uk/switch/saver.
