Hampton Court Palace, Surrey
If your children are aged between 8 and 16, get them along to Hampton Court Palace where they are running Fool Schools every weekend throughout the summer where children are taught stilt walking and juggling. The Fool School also puts on a show each day at 3.15pm complete with fire-eating.

National Museum & Art Gallery, Cardiff

Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, Lancashire

A fantastic day out for children can be had at the Eden Project. It is a huge environmental theme park that teaches its visitors about plants and how we depend upon them, conservation and how to enjoy the living world. Stokesay Castle, Ludlow
If you feel your children have too much energy and enjoy a bit of rough and tumble a bit too much take them along to Stokesay Castle and let them channel all that energy into some creative fighting. Legoland, Windsor, Berkshire
It apparently takes seven hours to cover everything at Legoland, which should keep your children out of mischief for a while. The park is home to over 50 interactive rides, building workshops and live shows all packed into its 150 acres of parkland.

Butlins (at Skegness, Minehead and Bognor Regis)
Contrary to popular belief you can visit Butlins just for the day, if you find yourself anywhere near Skegness, Minehead or Bognor this summer. All events are geared towards children, with some of the favourites being visits to Toyland and Rumble in the Jungle themed adventure playgrounds.
