Paupers' Paris

Quite a feyears ago my wife and I went to Paris and used a restaurant guide book entitled "Paupers' Paris". It gave details of all the best places to eat at very reasonable prices. I've not been able to track down an up-dated version or anything similar. Can anyone advise, please

The last time I went anywhere with a Lonely Planet book they had eating recommendations. They tend to cover a good range from cheap to expensive.

Thanks 237SJ. On our budget we'll definitely not be needing the upper end of the range. I probably need to update mytravel books on Paris anyway

Pauper's Paris (by Mile Turner) was originally published by Pan in 1982, with updates in 1984, 1986, 1990 and 1992. So even the most recent edition will be considerably out of date.

You might want to consider 'Let's Go Paris: The Student Travel Guide', which is now in its 17th edition. It has a substantial chapter about places to eat:

However the simplest solution would be to head for the Latin Quarter and look for the restaurants where the locals are eating!

or up the Rue de Mouffetard, lots of good, fairly cheap ones there.

Even at the cheapest places the prices seem exorbitant, so be prepared. We went into a students cafe in December, and the prices were shocking. It seems to be more expensive every time we go, which is fairly frequently, but the costs had jumped considerably.

Thanks everyone. I've ordered up the suggested book so hopefully by the time I get there I'll have studied it comprehensively. Last time we used the Paupers' Paris book we found some great deals even although we never yet found Jim Morrison's grave at Pere Lachaise Cemetery
