Hi, a friend of mine was talking about books from her childhood (born 1966) and said her favourite was something like "Butterball and the Mangle Weasel" (?)

I've never heard of it - is she misremembering? Any idea what that might be if she's saying it wrong?

It is actually a 'mangel wurzel'....that might help your search.
