Ebooks Public Library
24 Answers
I download a lot of ebooks from public libraries and I'm curious how many ABers do.
I have always been a fan of public libraries and have borrowed books all my life. I still go to my local library but prefer ebooks these days. A big advantage is seeing the books that are out on loan and the ability to reserve them.
Of course I can reserve paper books from libraries but if I can't see it on the shelf it might pass my attention.
I do buy ebooks, too. When I had my first ereader in 2010 lots of ebook sellers popped up - I used to buy them from Tesco, Waterstones, Asda but Amazon has killed off a lot of the competition so I buy mainly from Kobo and Google.
Sorry, I have waffled on. Do you borrow eBooks from your public libaries?

We joined several libraries which allowed me to take out enough books for our 6-week summer holiday. You don't have to worry about having to visit the library to return e-books; even if you are abroad you can return them and take out replacements via the internet.
Rosetta, I have a Kindle as well as my now ancient Sony and a Kobo.
You can download library eBooks on to your Kindle but you have to go through the Overdrive app https:/ /www.wi kihow.c om/Acce ss-UK-L ibrary- Books-o n-a-Kin dle

When I got my first ereader...a Sony...I wanted to borrow books but the service was not available at that time from our local libraries.
My reading habits are also too unpredictable for borrowing...now I'll buy a book for my kindle as cheaply as possible...and read when I'm in the mood. I don't want the pressure of having to finish within a certain time frame.

No, never have.
I have a kindle and rarely spend more than 99p on a book from Amazon. One of my pleasures in life is browsing their ebook section, and I get an email every day advising me of their daily deal.
We too used to spend 3 months abroad and would lug loads of books with us, always the Richard and Judy book club selection plus others. Would have been so much easier if I’d had my kindle then…
