I have been bought,
1. The funniest thing you never said - Rosemarie Jarski
2. Manchester Kiss - Bill Keeth
3. Every Street in Manchester - Bill Keeth
4. The Secret Life of T'rees - Colin Tudge
5. John Evelyn's diary
I have started the diary, fascinating! I am also enjoying Every Street.

I got
1. The Gospel According to Chris Moyles
2. 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die
3. The Book Of General Ignorance
Funnily enough, although I'm the family bookworm, I never get bought books. Maybe that's because they think I'm likely to have read everything they think I'd enjoy - I work for a library service, so they're not wrong.

However, I have a few pounds accumulated on my WH Smith club card, so I'm going in tomorrow to treat myself to something nice. This is something I do every year.

I have bought for people this year, two titles by Peter Moore for my eldest, the Gordon Ramsay autobiography (OMG!) for his wife, and Guiness World Records for the youngest (which is a traditional gift from me to him every year, along with a box of his fave choccies). I also bought the eldest, 'The Good Book' - looks like the New Testament, but has a hip flask hidden within.
hi to all. I got given Martina Cole new book THE CLOSE (love this author), plus new one called DON'T TELL MUMMY by Toni Maguire (true story - very sad!). I'm still reading Martina Cole previous novel THE TAKE, not sure which of the above I'm going to start first. See what mood I'm in at the time. Happy New Year to you all.

Hi bird/sax/mustang - Some interesting titles! I think if the book has been bought to suit the person, it's quite revealing of the personality of that person. Birdwoman, are you up for a laugh & quite a chirpy person? Sax, you seem quite interested in the world around you, the Guiness book is brilliant! Mustang, your obviously fascinated by crime & probably have a few real crime books in your collection? Are you also quite a sympathetic person to those around you? What about me? :0)
hi skyep... not far from the truth, I'm intrigued by true crime but loves novels rather than factual books. I am a very sympathetic person and cry at the slightest thing (even the most stupid of them all).
Now you, there's a question --- you obviously have some link with Manchester and love nature (as in the secret life of Trees), and a sense of humour as with your first book mentioned. Am I right ???

Hi Mustang - Spot on, I am a 'Manc' through & through, love my local history & historical diaries, Pepys/Evelyn. The book 'The secret life of trees - was bought for me by a vegan friend - very passionate about nature ( though I have read a couple of pages & it seems fascinating!! ) Yes I have a very good sense of humour, I'm 48, so it probabley started way back with the 'Goodies' then 'Monty Python' 'The league of Gentlemen' Followed by up to the minute stuff like, 'Friday night project' ect.. ect.. 'The book ' The funniest thing you never said' is a book of quotes by famous people, some quotes are very philosophical, others are very funny, reccomended! Spot on!
hi Skyep... funny what you find out about people by the books they read. I'll have to check out the book 'The funniest thing you never said', sounds like something I might enjoy browsing through.
Happy New Year to you (and happy reading!)
