When I was a child (I'm 35 now) I read a book about a lighthouse keeper who's wife rowed across the sea to him with a basket of food. He wanted some some lemonade, but there was a bad storm and he had to keep shouting down to her what he wanted. He kept shouting lemondade to her but she kept coming back with things that rhymed with it e.g. marmalade because she couldn't hear him properly.

I know there are some books out now e.g. The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch etc. etc. but they do not have this story in them. Can anyone help?

Hi there,

I am looking for the same book and all I keep getting is the lighthouse keepers lunch. As you stated, this is not the same story. This was a great book and I loved it as a child so hopefully someone can help us!
I’m looking for the same book. Pretty sure it was called “Marmalade for breakfast”. Did you ever find it? (14years…‽)
