I want a book for Christmas which will have me crying with laughter. I have read all Tom Sharpe, don't like Terry Pratchett, any ideas?

I found "e" by Matt Beaumont quite funny - a book written as a series of emails.

Stephen Fry's novels are good.
One fine day in the middle of the night. (Well i thought it was funny). Most of that guys stuff is pretty funny and has a good story line (bu99ered if I can remember the authors name at the moment but red wine does that to me).
Try The Portable Door By Tom Holt. It is Comic fantasy.:-D
China Doll, it's Christopher Brookmyre and he's one of the funniest, satyrical authors around. Love his books.
Three Men in a Boat, by Jerome K Jerome. I laughed so hard I was doubled up on the train crying (on my own).

Any Jeeves book (PG Wodehouse)
Humour's so subjective...but Jasper Fforde is a recent discovery of mine who I find hilarious, plus Ben Elton's novels usually deliver.
What about 'My Family and Other Animals' by Gerald Durrell.

It's based on his childhood in Corfu with his wildly eccentric family. I must have read it so many times, but it still makes me laugh out loud and I always find something new.
