This was also used in the film "Telefon" as a trigger phrase - pretty well wrecked the line for me for ever; I keep seeing explosions when I hear it!! Good old film though.

There were a couple of books about the American doctor, Tom Dooley which took their titles from the poem; "Before I Sleep" and "Promises to Keep"
