this book is driving me crazy and i dont know a title or author

i remember this book its like a picture book for maybe jr high kids, one of the pictures has a house lifting of the qround, another page has a women holding a kinfe near a jack o lanter, on the other page next to the pictures there is a short paragraph explaining about the picture... if you know it please help

Could it be something to do with The Wizard of Oz, maybe an older version that included the Pumpkinhead character?
