I forgot the name of Two books and the authors.

Ok I need serious help knowing the names of these two books.
I will describe what happens in each one.
Please post the name of author and the name of the book if you have any idea.

Ok the first book:
It's a bout a girl who lives in a farm near her grandparents. or something like that and she one day finds a path. That later on in the story she is able to keep finding the way along the path. Along the path there is like a shack and stuff like that. Also in the story she used to have a cousin I think who used to be like her bestfriend that died when they were little and the aunt I think had placed the body in a drawer beside a doll they owend.
Aswell in the story the girl finds a medallion that was her Grandfathers I think.
That's all I can remember.


In the second book:
It's about a boy who is very different than the rest and he likes to write things on his shirt.
So one day when he comes home from school he finds a note behind something that says that he was adopted. So after he finds out about that he runs away and his Mom and bestfriend get really worried.
Oh aswell before he runs away he finds out his dad dies.
To include he's in British columbia I think in Victoria? The island. He joins a group of very weird kids who do anything they want. Aswell that the boss is this fat dude. Or something like that.

So please help!
