I think it was Rose Mount, [presumably based on Ricmal's schooldays and her teaching career @ St. Elphins].
The Headmaster was a Mr. Marks or Mr. Markson - to William and the Outlaws he was " Ole Markie "

It might have been St. Elphins but I think that was where the author went and based the story on it. if i remember i'll let you know.
